The Healing Quilt Fact Sheet
- The Healing Quilt project began in August, 2003
- The organizations Mission: is to use the technique of creating comfort lap and bed quilts & 3' x6' memorial panels to promote Education, Emotional support, Healing and Tolerance to a vast and diverse community. Building bridges between schools, churches and community organizations, across the nation and around the world, with one goal of helping those in need.
- Rev.Bro Joseph+ McCormack and Rev. Bro. Michael+ Ardagno modeled the organization after the national AIDS Memorial Quilt Project.
- Memorial Panels are made for those who have been lost to various illnesses.
- Healing Quilts are made and given to those suffering from long term and chronic illnesses.
- The organization makes and accepts donations of knitted and crocheted baby items and sends them to orphaned AIDS babies in Africa and El Salvador.
- All of the supplies to make the quilts and panels are donated by individuals and other organizations.
- Approximately, thirty to one hundred quilts, several memorial panels, and crocheted baby items are made each month in several communities across the country.
- The Healing Quilt Project currently has about dozen volunteers in various commuities, holding workshops and we always welcomes anyone to come to a workshop and volunteer.( We are always there to help someone through grief making a memorial panel for their loved one.)
- The organization works with other non profit organizations and churches in the Missouri, New England, the Carolinian's and throughout the Southwest and California.
- They recently started Food Outreach which focuses on the Homeless and those with special needs in many of these communities.
- We are a 501c3 Non Profit with no paid employees, run totally by volunteers. Tax receipts for donations are available upon request.
